I have been in Second Life since 2005, and it has completely changed how I think about making money online. Second Life opens up a world of exciting possibilities for the home based entrepreneur.

I did not have a lot of money to start a business with, just a lot of time. I tried all kinds of home business opportunity’s , read all kinds of eBooks, sat on the floor of my local library with a pile of home business books and I found very little that worked out for me.

But Second Life is different, I enjoy creating virtual clothing and buildings for other people to enjoy!

I love going to virtual concerts with live musicians playing over streaming audio. Best of all I love the fact that I earn money all day and all night long, even as I sleep! That’s why I wrote “Your Virtual World Business Guide – Success through creativity in the Second Life world”.

Second Life is even FREE to get and FREE to use!

Stardust

Last night my friends and I watched Stardust while logged into Second Life. Its actually pretty easy to rent and watch movies in-world. Anyways there was a part about crossing a wall into this other world where fantasy is real and it really struck me hard that this other side was alot like going from the real world into Second Life.

Afterwards it was late and I needed to go to bed but I had a hard time sleeping. I lay there wishing I could stay in that other side where magic was real and love glows like a star. I tried to remind myself how silly it was to think that way, and duty to vows are reality like it or not but I suppose I am so fanciful that it didnt work.

I think mostly I am just a romantic type of person. The ending of Stardust was so sweet, two people who adore each other living together strong and joyful for all eternity. It embodies all I ever wanted for my own life and why couldnt it be that way? Shouldn’t two people be completely in love, never against one another? Ever facing the worlds troubles as a team? And not like the main character Tristan’s first crush, where the love means one person has to cross the world to bring a star to win the affections of the other…

All I ever wanted was unconditional, strong, unity, a true love.. but im stuck in reality.

I have a new appreciation for the long time hair designers of Second Life. Do you people even realise how many hours went into that hair you got for $L195 or about 70 cents usd? I just started to make some hair for guys I will have out at my store, AlleyCat Studios, in a few weeks. But since they are seriously lacking in good mens styles  I spent about 20 hours making 1 yes ONE style of hair. Twenty hours in all.

How? Well first you make the style.. then you fit the style, then you do all the recolors for that style, then photograph the style, then box it and set it out for sale. That is a lot of work!

So next time you find that awesome hair, take a moment to thank the designer for making it possible, chances are they spent over 20 hours on it! And we have not even covered marketing the hair..

From September 27 – October 5 there will be a celebration of life and art called burning life. Burning life is a virtual party of sorts based off the real world celebration called Burning Man which is held in Nevada.

This year my friends Delena and August are joining me to create a theme camp for the event we are calling “The Pimp & Ho Training Camp”. We jokingly came up with the idea to submit in an attempt to get a prime spot. Well.. we got one!

So we are really excited about all the fun nonsense that will shortly commence! We are making tons of freebies for the event, go team AlleyCat Studios! We will have funky pimping music courtesy of August the Mack, and bling pimp cups courtesy of the exotic Delena, decor will be done by me, Cathereine Night, and we hope to kidnap…err.. that is grab… err.. get some people to help with events and atmosphere.

Check us out at Burning Life! (and let me know if you wanna help out)

The SLCC 08 convention was held in Tampa, FL at the Mariott Waterside hotel. My overall feeling is that it was an amazingly well done event. Those who worked so hard, including all the volunteers and speakers should give themselves a pat on the back, it was superb.

The hotel was gorgeous, the meeting rooms were clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The breakfasts and lunches were delicious and fresh, and the wait staff were courteous and prompt. I mention these things because so often the service in even higher class locations such as this, is typically poor, but not here!

There were some wonderful discussions on each track. Personally I was there for the business track, but I also paid some attention to the education aspects of the convention. One thing that really struck me was how intelligent the Second Life community is. I spoke with so many surprisingly insightful people, It felt like heaven.

I must say that Philip Rosedale is quite the exceptional man. Not only did he create Linden Labs and Second Life, but he also took time to stop and chat with my friends and I for several minutes. I really appreciate it when people who have achieved sucess, do not act as though they are somehow better than everyone else around them, so many do, but not Philip. That fact really makes me want to renew my efforts to do everything I can to be a productive part of Second Life.

Then there was my personal reasons for attending. I met some of the people I knew from SL, most notably my good friend August. If nothing else had come from the trip, that alone would have been worth everything I did to get to Tampa. D and I enjoyed getting to know him in person and it just confirms what I already knew about him, He is one awesome guy!

I also attended Strokers Ball, held by Stroker Serpentine. The party was held a Banana Joe’s, a really popular nightlife hot spot just above the Splitsville bowling alley. I had to see Splitsville considering I built the Second Life version in-world when I worked with Dire Lobo on the project.

Banana Joe’s was in a great location, but to be honest the room was way over crowded! That speaks for the sucess of the party, so next year Stroker … we need more space! The umm.. blow up dolls were an interesting bar decoration, and the goodie bags had err… umm.. *grins* Well in any case I am sure people will be thanking Stroker and his sponsors all year long.

I am a bit sad now that it is all said and done, it was an amazing time that I will keep in my memories forever. The conference, the party, even my trip to see the beach at sunset. I can hardly wait for next year!
